These ancient machinations are actually a lot of the “magical items” we see in the Kirby games. A society that developed machines of such a high caliber that they appeared magical to the uninformed eye. They were a civilization said to be so advanced that they solved the mysteries of the universe ten times over. The Ancients came before anything that has ever happened in a Kirby game. If Kirby is the youngest yet strongest, what’ll he be like when he ages? So, that is a terrifying thought. Heck, even the voice actor for Void Termina is the same as Kirby its cries are distorted Kirby lines.
The significance of the Void Termina fight is it essentially confirms that Kirby, Meta Knight, and Galacta Knight are a race of beings either like Void Termina or from it. Awesomely, the new DLC characters are Jambandran mages, and Void Termina is the final boss, whom Kirby must fight using a machine of the Ancients. The main villain is a party of Jambandran mages who aim to wake Void Termina, a multi-dimensional horror. Plus, Star Allies has probably the most “lore” out of any of the games. The Jambandran Cult apparently wasn’t ever “confirmed” until Star Allies, so already that is huge. Star Allies significantly impacted them, especially the latter. There are two overarching groups in the background of the Kirby franchise: the Ancients and the Jambandran Cult.

This series is aptly named “Kirby Lore” and is made by one Woolie Madden at WoolieVersus. There is actually a relatively new series of videos out there that break down the Kirby lore. Or it is mentioned by the villain in one or two lines of dialogue. What I mean is most of it is alluded to in item and boss descriptions in menus.
